Honesty, simply put, is just being honest. Why lie? It takes so much time and energy to concoct a lie, weave a web of lies just for it to snowball out of control and you don’t remember what the last thing you said was. Lying takes way to much effort. Being up front and honest about any situation saves you in the long run and I’m not just talking about wasted energy. You may end up paying either way, but the penalty would be less steep, had you just not lie in the first place. Being honest means not only to oneself but also to others, and not just because someone is watching. Some people see honesty as a quality of having a sense of truthfulness in regards to motivations of one’s actions.
Integrity is the consistency of your actions, having morals and values. It demonstrates a person’s inner character, behavior, image projection, intentions and is an attribute that connects us with our clients, co-workers, and everything about the business. Integrity is your true colors and values showing through. It is something that can’t be hidden but can easily be found. I find integrity to be the inner core values of you as a person, your personality, and characteristic traits that make you whom you are.
Combining honesty and integrity, professionally, is considered to be high quality service that shows through our work and it is the respect for other’s rights. We look at and for reputations. We know that when we do business with people reflecting honesty, as well as integrity, we are not likely to be cheated. As a business we can gain valuable reputation by practicing honest consistent procedures. Honesty and integrity should be a principle a business requires for ethical standards allowing trust and continual support to be built between the business and clients.
Honesty and integrity is an ethical code with unimpaired morals in relationships, whether business or personal. Each decision we make has consequences in influencing or affecting others and is something we all should value for use every day.
