Anger Management

In web design and development we all are going to encounter from time to time the possibility of issues that will make us angry. When creating websites you may run into human errors, such as mistyped codes or missing information. Other times, it may be complications due to browser compatibilities or just who knows what? Even more to add to the pressure, is to have your client drop a bomb shell in your lap just to make your day!

Being a web developer/designer our jobs can be hectic, confusing, frustrating and downright tricky. We can spend time consuming and countless hours pouring over research and troubleshooting over painstaking details.

Anger is a natural human emotional response to something conflicting or affecting us in such a way that we may not understand or handle. It takes great skill and effort to stay in control over our emotions especially when it comes to anger. Being angry is not always a bad thing; the main problem is the mismanaged kind that can cause conflict.

Anger can be healthy when effort of control is taken and within set boundaries. It is not to be used as a punishment, intimidate, or be violent with another person. It usually can be conveyed and expressed in a civil manner.

Unhealthy anger is the kind with, sometimes, rage and intensity. This type of anger is displayed by yelling, screaming or even physical violence, a type of rage that loses control and creating a hostile environment.

Anger management is learning the difference between healthy and unhealthy anger. It requires you to clearly recognize what the warning signs are, and stop the process of losing control. It takes a commitment to learn how to express and respond to anger in such a way that it does not hurt relationships and can make them more fulfilling. When we chose to express our anger with some managing techniques we can exert some control and improve a bad situation. When properly controlled, anger is often justified, reasonable, and an effective reaction to an unfair situation.
